Many species of tits, such as blue tits or coal tits nest in boxes with a single entrance with a diameter of 27 to 28 mm. Wrynecks, pied flycatchers, tree sparrows, collared flycatchers, as well as nuthatches and some coal tits favour nesting boxes with an entrance measuring 32 mm in diameter. If you suspend your Erdtmanns nesting box at a height of 1.50 m and 3 m with the entrance facing south-east, it will attract lots of song birds during the nesting season and also provide a night shelter during the cold winter nights. |
